Tucked along a quiet Galveston street, Under the Ivy Guest House wraps you in the warmth of a bygone era — where weathered brick meets linen sheets, and the Gulf breeze carries the promise of adventure.
Under the Ivy Guest House was born from a simple conviction: that a place can be both a home and a destination. Our 1880s-era cottage, draped in native ivy and sitting just minutes from the Strand and the Texas Sea Wall, offers something increasingly rare — a stay that feels personal.
Every detail has been considered: the hand-thrown ceramics on your breakfast table, the weight of the cotton towels, the way the afternoon light falls through the front parlor windows. We don't do impersonal. We don't do generic. We do the kind of hospitality that makes you want to write a letter — not just leave a review.
With warmth,
The Under the Ivy Team
Our signature room features a plush king bed, garden-facing windows, and a private en-suite bath finished in hand-painted tile. The space is dressed in earth tones and natural linens — calm, collected, and quietly luxurious.
A serene retreat with a queen bed, coastal-inspired palette, and views of our shaded courtyard. The Sea Room is perfect for solo travelers or couples seeking a quiet corner of Galveston to call their own.
Both rooms share a beautifully appointed common kitchen and living area — ideal for morning coffee or evening wine. Full breakfast is included with every stay.
A freshly prepared morning meal featuring local ingredients, artisan breads, and Texas Gulf Coast coffee. Served in the sunlit kitchen or on the courtyard patio.
A private outdoor sanctuary framed by mature live oaks and climbing ivy. Read, relax, or watch the sunset with a glass of wine from the nearby Strand.
The Strand, Pier 39, the Texas Seaport Museum — all within a short, strollable distance. We'll provide a curated map of our favorite local spots.
Arrive on your schedule. Our keyless entry lets you settle in without the formality of a front desk — because your time matters.
A dedicated off-street parking space is included with your reservation. No hunting for street spots or paying for lots.
A thoughtfully curated guide to Galveston's best restaurants, hidden beaches, and historic sites — written by people who actually live here.
2419 Avenue L sits in one of Galveston's most walkable neighborhoods — close enough to the Strand's restaurants and shops to reach on foot, quiet enough to fall asleep to the sound of cicadas instead of traffic.
We stumbled upon Under the Ivy almost by accident and it became the highlight of our Galveston trip. The room was immaculate, the breakfast was incredible, and the neighborhood felt like stepping back in time. We'll be back.
There's a difference between a hotel and a place that feels like home. Under the Ivy is the latter. The courtyard is magical at dusk, the bed was the most comfortable I've slept in at any B&B, and the attention to detail is remarkable.
Perfect location for exploring Galveston on foot. We walked to the Strand for dinner every night. The hosts were warm and unobtrusive, the parking was a dream, and the whole place just feels cared for. Not another chain experience in sight.
